Who Am I to Teach and Coach You How to Balance Your Life and Rid Yourself of Stress?

I can remember when I was a school teacher. I was a multi-tasking maniac, trying to get everything done at work so I could take less home with me at night. On top of that I had to meal plan, buy groceries, prepare meals, do laundry, keep a clean house, AND be a good wife.

I was highly successful at my job and I ate very healthily, so on the outside everything looked great, however at home, behind closed doors, things weren’t great. (Ask any of my close friends from those days and they’ll tell you it’s true because they were the ones hearing me complain, whine, cry and be angry!)

Ask my husband and he’d say, “That wasn’t the woman I married.”

I was often snappy at him and just wanted to be left alone at night, so I could either pass out on the sofa or continue my work.

I wasn’t enjoying my life. I didn’t have quality moments with anyone, and most serious of all, my health began to deteriorate.

Every weekend I would break out in hives, even on my lips! They would swell to triple their size and would itch terribly.

The clincher came one day as I was standing in front of my students. I felt the right side of my face begin to go numb. Then, minute by minute I progressively lost feeling in the whole right side of my body.
I immediately left school and went to see my doctor. Within an hour, I was lying in an MRI tunnel and having blue dye injected into my veins. After two days of sobbing from worry the results came back that I had just suffered a severe reaction to…STRESS.

I was ordered to stay home for one week to rest.

My husband sat down beside me one day and said, “Look, this is ridiculous. I resent your job and I resent the person I come home to. You need to figure out a way to live a more balanced life.” Those words stuck with me…BALANCED LIFE. What was that?

Since I had the time, I read loads of self-help books and journaled like crazy. I asked myself:

“What do I need in my life, every month, to satisfy my body, heart and soul?”

“What is it that I feel is missing from my life right now?”

“Whose life do I admire and why?”

 

Finally, I invented something that would help me live the life I truly wanted to live – that something is what I now call my LIFE CIRCLE TOOL.


I began using this tool and I found I was excited about each month, in fact, every week! For the first time in a LONG time I was fully participating in my life.

Then, fast forward to when I was pregnant with my first child.

People with kids were telling us to “enjoy our wonderful life while it lasted because as soon as the kids came it would all change.”

It didn’t.

Then our second child was about to arrive and again people said, “Well, one child is easy, but just wait until you have two kids. That’s when the hard work really begins.”

And it didn’t.

It has been 7 years since I have been using my Life Circle Tool and it just keeps feeding my soul based on what it needs each month.

While coaching moms, I kept hearing that they wished they could have free time for themselves, although they thought it was an impossibility with kids.
